Bali Hai is one of my absolute favorite spots to go to in San Diego. My family and I have made so many sweet memories at this city staple!

When I was 7-years-old, my Aunt and Uncle had their wedding reception here. I remember eating myself through the maraschino cherry bowl at the bar. I’m not quite sure how we were able to get so many cherries. To this day, I feel like I can never even sneak just a lime from the bar without a bartender’s permission!

My Junior year of high school, we had our formal here. Of my annual formals during my high school days, this was probably my favorite out of all. I wore a turquoise mermaid gown with turquoise feather earrings. Safe to say I stood out! But I loved it. And the city skyline was the most perfect background to the vibrant silk and tool.

These days, my family and I still enjoy going to Bali Hai to enjoy the phenomenal view, food and drink. Sometimes, we just get a table full of pupus (appetizers). The food is great but if you leave without saying these 2 words, Mai Tai, then did you really visit? They have the best Mai Tai’s! And they are even under $10!

Whether you want a nice night out or a casual afternoon, Bali Hai’s dress code is whatever you want it to be. Perhaps this is partly what makes it so great.

Tonight I chose a blue velvet dress. Why? Because it reminded me of the velvet dress I had as a little girl.
