When the Color Fades - Ways to Switch Up Daily Routine
Much of life can be routine.
And sometimes, routine can turn into mundane drudgery.
I have always lived life trying to find joy in the simple things and the everyday routine.
But sometimes, life really catches up with you.
Whether you're going through a difficult time or find yourself discouraged with something, waking up and doing the same thing over and over again can be quite a bore.
Here are a few things that I do to "switch up" my routine and add color to my universe:
Take a dance class
Talk to a coworker you don't normally connect with
Hang out in a new neighborhood
Go to a coffee shop after work to read or journal
Order a different type of coffee than you normally do
Wear something edgy
Put on a new eyeshadow shade
Go to a different lunch spot
Leave your messes to be creative instead of cleaning
Eat a cookie for breakfast (in bed!!)
Open your mind to think the opposite of how you normally do
Call a friend you haven't spoke with in awhile
Dance in the mirror
Explore the area around your office during lunch on foot
Try a workout class instead of hitting the gym
Go for a walk/run at the beach or a mountain trail
Play hooky. Take a mental health day!
You never know what you may see, who you may meet, and what corridor may open for you. Think about it, if you do the same exact thing everyday, you may miss good opportunities.
